Inside Llewyn Davis

Llewyn Davis is a talented young musician in the burgeoning folk scene in Greenwich Village in 1961. No matter how hard he tries, he can't get his foot in the door. Unless others put obstacles in his way, he trips himself up with his effervescent manner. When he hears that he could get a job at a big club in Chicago, Llewyn embarks on a journey that turns out to be a real hell ride with an uncertain outcome.

With their 16. directorial effort, the Coen brothers devote themselves to another perfect, tragic yet hilarious portrait of a down-on-his-luck guy who may stretch but always falls flat on his face: Firmly anchored in the New York folk scene before the emergence of Bob Dylan and loosely based on the life of folkie Dave van Ronk, "Inside Llewyn Davis" captivates with its precise drawing of a quintessential microcosm, perfect musical performances and an outstanding performance by Oscar Isaac as the title character that would make him a star.
