The Green Mile

The Green Mile is a 1999 film directed by Frank Darabont, based on Stephen King's novel of the same name. Set in the 1930s, the story unfolds on death row at a Louisiana prison. The film centers around the prison guards, notably Paul Edgecomb (played by Tom Hanks), who oversee the inmates awaiting execution. Their lives are profoundly affected when John Coffey (played by Michael Clarke Duncan), a massive African-American man with supernatural healing powers, is sent to death row after being wrongfully convicted of murder.
As Paul and his fellow guards get to know John, they witness his extraordinary abilities and begin to question his guilt. The film delves into themes of justice, racism, empathy, and the moral complexities of capital punishment. It's a moving and thought-provoking tale of how one man's extraordinary gifts challenge the beliefs and values of those around him, ultimately leading to a powerful and emotional climax.
