The Blue Lagoon is a 1980 coming of age film directed by Randal Kleiser and starring Brooke Shields, Christopher Atkins and Leo McKern. Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins grow up on a deserted island and discover for themselves their own innocent world in paradise.
In 1900, the two children Emmeline (Brooke Shields) and Richard (Christopher Atkins) are on board a ship. After a tropical storm, they and the experienced sailor Paddy (Leo McKern) are almost the only survivors on a deserted island. Paddy does his best to help the children adjust to the new situation, imparting his knowledge and becoming a surrogate father. When he dies, cousin and cousin are left on their own, soon enter puberty and are confronted with new feelings and challenges. Soon an innocent love grows between the two. But undisturbed happiness does not last forever, even in paradise.
